Apple Music your family can play with confidence.
Safe Shuffle checks every song against your household’s limits before it plays — so the car ride stays a car ride.
Coming soon to the App Store iPhone · Works with your Apple Music subscriptionHow it works
You choose what’s okay for your family once. Safe Shuffle does the checking every time.
-
Pick a profile
Start from Young Child, Family Road Trip or Teen Moderate, and adjust language, violence, drugs and alcohol, sexual content and gambling to suit.
-
Play anything
Browse, search or let a playlist run. Every song is checked against licensed lyric ratings before it reaches the queue.
-
Only what passes plays
Songs that don’t fit are left out, never played and skipped. Playback keeps going with music that does.
Made for real family listening
Everything a parent needs, nothing a child can switch off.
Checked before it plays
Songs are screened against your profile first. A song that doesn’t pass never starts — not even for a second.
See what’s in any song
Tap ⓘ on any song for what it contains and how much — mild language, alcohol, violence — whether or not it plays.
You stay in charge
Changes need your caregiver PIN. Play a held-back song once, or add it to a profile’s safe list when you know it’s fine.
Built for the car
Works with CarPlay and Siri — “Hey Siri, play Frozen on Safe Shuffle” — and keeps playing more music that fits when the playlist ends.

Clean lyrics don’t always mean a clean cover. Turn on plain tiles for any profile.

What it can and can’t do
No filter is perfect. Here’s exactly where Safe Shuffle’s limits are, so you can decide for yourself.
- It filters music played in Safe Shuffle. The Apple Music app itself isn’t filtered — Apple’s Screen Time “Clean” setting covers that.
- Brand-new releases wait 30 days unless the ratings already flag something, to give the ratings time to catch up.
- Some themes can only be caught by name. Lyric ratings don’t cover self-harm, so Safe Shuffle also holds back songs whose title or artist names it.
- Some saved music can’t be checked — older purchases and uploads Apple can’t match. You choose whether those play.

Questions
Do I need Apple Music?
Yes. Safe Shuffle plays Apple Music’s catalog through your own Apple Music subscription. It doesn’t work with Spotify or other services.
How does it know what’s in a song?
Safe Shuffle uses licensed content ratings from LyricFind, which analyze lyrics for language, violence, drugs and alcohol, sexual content and gambling. Safe Shuffle never sees or stores the lyrics themselves.
Can my kids change the settings?
Not without your caregiver PIN. Profile changes, “Play anyway” and the safe list all ask for it.
Can more than one phone use it?
Yes. Set up your household once, then add phones with a join code. One subscription covers them all, each on the profile you choose.
What do you collect about my family?
As little as possible: no names, emails, ages or listening history, no ads and no tracking. The privacy policy lists exactly what’s kept.
